dote dish with Gabrielle Moses
Gabrielle Moses tells dote she thinks it’s not healthy that people today are constantly comparing themselves to other people on social media.
Dote: What’s your all time favorite song?
Gabrielle: The A Team or Skinny Love. Those are what I like to call "my cry songs" so whenever I feel stressed, overwhelmed, or just feel like I need to cry I just listen to those. I listen to them a lot.
Dote: What’s the last TV show you binge-watched?
Carla: Game of Thrones, I just started it and I am hooked. I watched the first season in 2 days. I know I have a problem, but I just can't stop.
Dote: What or who inspires you the most as a creator and why?
Gabrielle: My followers. I love just chatting with them on IG live or DMing them. They always have amazing ideas and they make me strive to be the best version of myself.
Dote: Who is your celebrity crush?
Gabrielle: Zac Efron before he went platinum blonde. Three words: High School Musical.
Dote: Who is your biggest girlboss crush?
Gabrielle: For sure Jessica Alba, she is a famous actress, A MOM OF 3, and created her own non-toxic household products company because she was worried about products she was using. How does anyone have time for all of that and still remain so flawless?!?
Dote: Who’s the last person who sent you a text?
Gabrielle: My boyfriend, Jack, we were actually talking about new YouTube video ideas. Even though it's almost midnight, the mind never stops thinking.
Dote: What’s your favorite skincare product and why?
Gabrielle: The Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask. It makes my skin feel super soft, which is amazing because I easily get dry skin. I also love the packaging.
Dote: What’s a cause you care about and why?
Gabrielle: Mental health awareness. Today, everyone is constantly comparing themselves to other people—their bodies, their clothes, their smiles—and literally everything else. This is not healthy. Teens and young adults are putting themselves down and ruining their image of themselves, in part because of social media, which is having a huge effect on the mental well-being of many teens and young adults throughout the world.
Dote: What’s your favorite book and why?
Gabrielle: The Great Gatsby. The roaring 20's seem like a magical time period. But for Gatsby, it was the tale of a tragic love story. I love a good tear jerker and have always wanted to time travel back to the 20's because of the Great Gatsby.
Dote: What’s your favorite family tradition?
Gabrielle: When I was younger, on Christmas morning my sisters and I would all wear matching pajamas. We all had our bedrooms upstairs from the living room, where the Christmas tree was. My parents would decorate our hallway with ridiculously ugly Christmas decorations and would blow an air horn signaling that it was time to come down and open presents. When my sisters and I would hear that air horn, we would sprint down the hallway and the stairs. Whoever got downstairs first got to open the first Christmas present.
Dote: If you could spend a day with three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
Gabrielle: Definitely my Jidu (grandfather). He moved to the United States from Syria. I would love to talk to him about what he had to go through, fleeing religious persecution, and thank him for being such a strong incredible man. He died when I was younger so I never really got to know him.
I would also love to talk to Ellen Degeneres because who wouldn't? She is absolutely hilarious and I've watched her show since the first season. I would love to talk to her about different obstacles she faced constantly being in the spotlight and being the first lead character to come out of the closet on national TV. I look up to her for being so courageous.
The third person I would spend the day with would be Steve Jobs. Way before there was ever a movie about him, I read a 1000+ page biography for a school assignment and I just became fascinated with Steve's life. He was a genius who dropped out of college and founded Apple from his parents garage. Little did he know it would become one of the biggest companies in the world. I don't really know what I would talk to him about, but I feel like I would love to just sit and listen to him tell stories about his own life.
Dote: What’s your favorite clothing brand?
Gabrielle: Oh wow, I am so indecisive when it comes to clothing. I am constantly changing what I wear, so I couldn't say I have just one favorite brand. But one of my go-to brands is Princess Polly.
Dote: What’s your go to coffee order?
Gabrielle: I actually hate coffee, but I LOVE tea my favorite is hot apple mint tea!
Dote: What’s something your followers may not know about you?
Gabrielle: I actually have a twin sister. :)
Dote: What is your favorite quote?
Gabrielle: They keep saying that beautiful is something a girl needs to be. But honestly? Forget that. Don't be beautiful. Be angry, be intelligent, be witty, be klutzy, be talented- there are an eternity of other things to be other than beautiful. And what is beautiful anyway but a set of letters strung together to make a word? Be your own definition of amazing, always. That is so much more important than anything beautiful, ever. - Nikita Gill
