Jillian Estell tells the crown about leaving Texas for LA to pursue her dreams.
Dote: You started acting at a very young age. How’d you get into it? Jillian: I started modeling when I was three years old and my agent just started sending me out on auditions for TV shows, commercials, and movies!
Dote: What’s your favorite part about being a performer? Jillian: My favorite part about being a performer is being on set meeting new people and getting close with the cast and crew.
Dote: You moved from Texas to LA to follow your dream of being an actress. What was the hardest part about moving so far from home and how’d you overcome it? Jillian: The hardest part of moving from Texas to LA was leaving my home church where I had been since I was two years old. When we moved here, we found a new church that we love and now feels like home.
Dote: You were diagnosed with Celiac disease at a young age. What’s something you want your fans and followers to know about people living with Celiac? Jillian: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects your intestines, which is why I am unable to eat gluten. I get really sick for 48 hours. Afterwards, I have still have lingering side effects like headaches and blurry vision for weeks. Celiac disease is serious and it is not easy to live with.
Dote: You recently finished freshman year of high school. What’s something you learned about yourself this past year? Jillian: I started going to public school in January and I absolutely love it. I did online school since fourth grade. I learned that I love going to school and that it’s so much easier than online school. I made a bunch of new friends and tried out for cheerleading. So, I will be a high school cheerleader for my sophomore year.
Dote: What are you most looking forward to this summer? Jillian: This summer I’m looking forward to going to Palm Springs for a vacation, hanging out with my friends, swimming, and going to Hurricane Harbor! I am also going to cheer camp and Youth church camp this summer.
Dote: When you aren’t working, what do you do for fun? Jillian: When I am not working, I love hanging out with my friends, traveling, watching Netflix, going to Six Flags, and going shopping!
Dote: Who or what do you turn to for inspiration? Jillian: I usually turn to my mom or listen to inspirational videos on YouTube.
Dote: What cause is most important to you and why? Jillian: The Celiac Disease Foundation because it’s really important to spread the word and educate people about the seriousness of celiac disease. People usually think eating gluten free is a fad diet, but for me it’s my life.
Dote: What’s the one thing you never leave home without? Jillian: I never leave home without my Hydro Flask and snacks, because I never know if I can eat anything at the places we may go, including family/friend’s houses.
Dote: What song do you currently have on repeat? Jillian: The songs I currently have on repeat are Juke Jam by Chance the Rapper featuring Justin Bieber and Towkio and any song by Billie Eilish. I love music, so it changes frequently.
Dote: What’s your favorite book? Jillian: My favorite book is Wonder by R.J. Palacio!
Dote: What’s your favorite family tradition? Jillian: I have a couple favorite family traditions for the holidays. One of my favorite things is we usually go to Kansas and Minnesota to be with our family for Christmas. Another is we also go to our favorite restaurant called Houston’s/Hillstone.
Dote: What’s something your followers may not know about you? Jillian: Something my followers may not know about me is that I am also allergic to cashews, pistachios, corn, and dairy.
